One could hardly throw a stone these days without beaning a member of a Beatles-influenced band, yet not many such outfits have been equally swayed by "Strawberry Fields" and the primitive sound collage of "Revolution #9." The Olivia Tremor Control is a notable exception; the quartet has already made a name for itself by plundering (and combining) both extremes of the Fab Four's late-period work--beautiful, sugary pop and hazy, tape-manipulated psychedelia. OTCΓÇÖs ambitious 27-track debut, Dusk At Cubist Castle, was recorded, like the music of the group's idols, on just four tracks. Subtitled "Music From The Unrealized Film Script," the album showed the bandΓÇÖs rococo pop flair on several minute-long gems, but also included generous helpings of Pink Floyd-ian weirdness.
